The eighth day of the Beginner Calendar calls for a Legs workout. Thigh, ugh, thighs. I have always had thick thighs. Thick is okay as long as it is toned, though.
7 minutes, 60 calories, screaming muscles.
My left hamstring felt off all day today for some reason. Not tight or a pull, just.. off. Almost like the feeling you get after a bad charlie horse. I didn’t feel any extra strain from it during this workout, so for that I am thankful. The side lunges in the beginning gave my legs a welcome stretch, and the plié squats warned me as to how the rest of the workout was going to go.
Let me tell you: sideways scissors are no joke.
My right hip popped on every forward cross (doesn’t hurt, just sounds bad), and my legs were shaking by the 15th cross. The inner thigh lifts on the right side reminded me just how much I do not miss my PT!! My MCL (medial collateral ligament) was burning as I did the lifts, reminding me that the injury is far from gone. I’m quite thankful this is the first I’ve felt of it since October.
I finished the workout relatively unscathed, albeit sweating and shaky. I have a feeling it will be quite some time before I get my legs back to the strength they were when I was walking regularly.
